Some people will experience soreness for a day or so after an osteopathic treatment. This is quite normal and often an indication of increased circulation and removal of toxins such as lactic acid. Others will feel amazing post treatment. Either way there are a few things you can do to maximise the benefits of your osteopathic care.

Try to be particularly aware of your posture in the days following osteopathic treatment and you may need to avoid vigorous exercise. Your osteopath will advise whether this applies to you.

The best way to reduce this reaction and get the most from your treatment is to follow these easy steps;

-      Keep moving, find a happy medium between doing too much and too little activity over the few days after treatment,

-      Stay well hydrated by drinking lots of water,

-      Sometimes the application of heat or ice packs will reduce the symptoms of the injury as well as any reaction to treatment. Your osteopath will advise you of whether this applies in your case.

Your osteopath may recommend some exercises or stretches to do to speed up your recovery. These can be very helpful in the days following your treatment.

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns you should feel free to get in touch with the clinic on 3556166.
